This re-edition Astronaut, the first in an exciting new series of Accutron Astronaut timepieces, features a Swiss SW330 GMT movement with a 56-hr power reserve in a 41mm stainless steel case with matching bullet stainless steel bracelet, partial exhibition case back, sapphire crystal, and Super Lumi-Nova. Offering the world’s first fully electronic watch in 1960, Accutron changed the way the world told time with the most accurate timekeeping mechanism ever created and the first personal timekeeping advancement seen in 300 years, thanks to the Swiss engineer Max Hetzel. Ruling the watch world then, its foundational technology became an integral component of America’s space program with its participation in 46 NASA missions.
The Dial features Black matte dial with applied raised indices at hour markers with super luminova boxes within the minute track. Super luminova triangles indicating half hours are located between markers are and for alignment of top ring with 24 hour time. Silver pitched hands with super luminova and a GMT with a triangle super luminova tip. Stainless steel case and bezel with Accutron logo and partial exhibition case back. The Watch Band is an Iconic bullet stainless steel bracelet with double-press deployant closure.
